| 1608 | Rebecca was illiterate. Just some thoughts about Ann Christian and her arrival in Tasmania.I have a ggg grandmother named Thirza Chipman. She married Henry Stephenson Hurst on 4/6/1833. I do not know about her origins, but a report in the newspaper at the time of her m arriage stated that she was a recent arrival from England. I wonder if Ann and Thirza may have arrived together, in a shipment of brides? I have yet to find the ship Thirza came on, but the name Thirza is not so common, and Ann named a daughte r Rebecca Thirza (probably an extreme long shot, but they appear to have both been single women arriving in Tasmania about the same time) - In fact, about a third of all girls with the name Thirza, born in Tasmania up to 1899, have some connecti on to my Thirza. | WITTICK, Rebecca Thirza (I818)
